VCP/p97-cofactor complexes at the intersection of DNA repair and checkpoint control
Meyer will concentrate on deconvolving the functions of the VCP/p97 ATPase and its many cofactor proteins in DNA damage responses. He will use a systematic combination of mass spectrometry, PROTAC-induced protein degradation and cell-free reconstitution approaches. The aim is to identify targets and dissect the exact role of p97-cofactor complexes in alternative DNA damage repair pathways and checkpoint signaling that control cell state transitions, and then explore the relevance for genomic stability and survival in cancer cell models.
